Becky Laffitte appointed to the Columbia College Board of Trustees
September 19, 2002. Sowell Gray Stepp & Lafitte, LLC, announces with pride that founding member Becky Laffitte has been appointed to the Columbia College Board of Trustees for a three-year term. Ms. Laffitte is a 1977 graduate of Columbia College, where she served as Student Body President and since has been an active alumna. She attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 1983, and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi, Order of the Barristers, the ABA/Young Lawyers Division Moot Court Team and the Moot Court Bar. She also received her M.A.T. from the University of South Carolina in 1978.
At Sowell Gray, Ms. Laffitte concentrates her practice in products liability, professional liability, construction litigation, automobile and trucking litigation, insurance coverage and intentional torts litigation. A former member of the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline, Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section and Professional Responsibility Committee of the South Carolina Bar, and a certified circuit court mediator and arbitrator, Ms. Laffitte is also a member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, American Board of Trial Advocates, Trial Attorneys of America, International Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court, Richland County and American Bar Associations. Ms. Laffitte is a past president of the Junior League of Columbia, Inc. and is a member of Midlands Technical College Foundation Board.
