Sowell Gray Stepp & Laffitte attorney Monteith P. Todd has been certified as a Circuit Court Mediator by the SC Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification.
Mediation and arbitration are processes in which an impartial, neutral third-person helps two or more parties resolve their dispute or conflict. A mediator helps the disputants to reach their own resolution of their problem and assists the parties to discuss and resolve their differences.
Arbitrators hear both sides and then make a decision, resolving the disputants' problem for them. The arbitrator's decision can be binding and can have the same weight and effect as a formal judgment by a court.
Mediators and Arbitrators are certified through the South Carolina Supreme Court's Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution and the Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification.
