COLUMBIA, S.C. - Sowell Gray Stepp & Laffitte, LLC, proudly announces that Amy L.B. Hill has been awarded the Civic Star Award by the Richland County Bar Association at its Annual Meeting and Christmas Party at the Columbia Museum of Art on Thursday, December 7.
The Civic Star recipient is chosen by the Richland County Bar's Executive Committee and is awarded for "exceptional and meritorious public service to the community for activities outside of the legal profession."
In addition to her work in commercial litigation, Amy has worked tirelessly on behalf of girls and women in the Columbia community. Since 2003, Amy has co-chaired the Cinderella Project, a project of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division that collects gently worn formal dresses to be given to high school girls during prom season. The project culminates in the "Cinderella Boutique," where dozens of girls shop for dresses, shoes, accessories, and even makeup free of charge.
Amy also co-chaired the Young Lawyers' Division Women to Work project, a conference designed to assist women in the job search process. Women to Work offers free seminars on interviewing and resume writing in addition to offering gently worn business attire at no cost.
