Cal Watson has been accepted into the International Association of Defense Counsel, the oldest international organization of attorneys representing corporations and insurers. Potential members must be nominated by a current member, and must fulfill the qualifications for membership, which include at least 8 years in good standing with state bar, substantial time devoted to representing defendants in civil litigation, and active participation in the insurance industry.

IADC’s activities benefit the civil justice system and the legal profession, and the organization takes a leadership role in many areas of legal reform and professional development.

Cal also has been elected President-elect of the South Carolina Bar Foundation, which provides basic access to civil justice for low-income citizens and offers law-related education services to the public. The Foundation also strives to improve the administration of justice and to enhance the legal profession for members of the bench and bar of South Carolina. Cal has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation since 1999.

Cal also has been elected First Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the Historic Columbia Foundation, whose mission is to nurture, support and protect the historical and cultural heritage of Columbia and its environs through programs of advocacy, education and preservation. Cal has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation since 1999.
