Cal Watson Selected for Community Positions
Sowell Gray Stepp & Laffitte, LLC is proud to announce that J. Calhoun Watson has been selected for two important community positions.
A long-time member of the Historic Columbia Foundation, Cal has been elected President of the Board of Trustees. Historic Columbia’s mission is to nurture, support and protect the historical and cultural heritage of Columbia and its environs through programs of advocacy, education and preservation. Cal has been a member of the Foundation since 1999.
Also, Cal has been appointed as one of the twenty-six inaugural members of the South Carolina Access to Justice Commission.
Created by an Administrative Order of the South Carolina Supreme Court, the Commission promotes equal access to the civil justice system for low- and moderate-income South Carolinians. In order to fulfill this mission, the Access to Justice Commission will identify and assess the legal needs of low-income South Carolinians. The Commission will then develop a strategic plan to meet these needs, foster coordination among agencies and organizations that provide resources, and strive to increase services where they are needed.
