Richland School District One residents recently elected Sowell Gray Stepp & Laffitte, LLC, partner Robert E. Tyson, Jr. to the Board of Commissioners, a seven-member board governing the capital city school district. “With four daughters in Richland One schools, I have a vested interest,” said Tyson. “I will make all decisions in the best interests of our children, be a good steward of our tax dollars, and build stronger relationships in the community. I’ll also seek to ensure our schools and teachers provide our students with the best possible tools to learn.” Tyson was elected in District 3, representing downtown Columbia, Shandon and Forest Acres. He was sworn in at the Richland One headquarters on November 14, 2006. “Sowell Gray is enormously pleased to have Rob on the School Board,” said Bobby Stepp, managing partner at Sowell Gray. “We know that Rob’s diplomacy and dedication will translate into an even better school system for the children of Columbia.
